Rastafarianism Beliefs and Rituals Essay

The consolidation in numerous cutting edge social orders of fear locks among adolescents, the consistently expanding endeavors to legitimize maryjane; what began as a completely dark arranged religion spread all through the world, especially during the 1970s due to the prevalence of reggae music, and as of now has around one million devotees in Japan, New Zealand, and somewhere else (Simpson 96) , alongside numerous different exercises that we are acclimated with in the American pluralistic culture, speaks to a type of customs and convictions that have been brought to the standard by the Rastafarians. I had regularly been perplexed by the manner by which my Rastafarian companions saw and carried on inside each extraordinary circumstance; specifically how upbeat and settled they as a rule were even on the most troublesome conditions. The Rastafarian religion’s convictions and customs are very rich and unadulterated; all through broad examination it was conceivable to reveal six primary convictions that can be considered genuinely Rastafarians, one of them expressing that Haile Selassie I is the main God. These convictions don’t remain constant in a religious perspective on the grounds that the good book shows us of the Holy Trinity, and plainly demonstrates that Jesus Christ is the child of God, the main living God, and that salvation must be acquired through Jesus Christ. Before depicting precisely what Rastafarianism’s strict convictions and customs are, it is imperative to comprehend the strict foundation. Rastafarianism is moderately new religion dependent on the African customary religion. The Rastafarian religion falls into the Experiential/Emotional Dimension because of its specific qualifications between that which is disrespectful and that which is sacrosanct, and furthermore to their cautious differentiation of food that the supporters of this group of religion’s are permitted to eat. Rastafarians don’t manufacture extraordinary spots for venerate in light of the fact that they accept that their own body is the genuine church or sanctuary of God; Although, a few Rastafarians have made sanctuaries, as some assemble otherworldly conference places in global networks with enormous Rastafarian populace. As a religion Rastafari is hard to epitomize, it may be seriously depicted as a profound development that began in Jamaica with an objective attached in coming back to, recovering, or rehashing African legacy and personality. The name Rastafari gets from the title and given name (Ras, deciphered as â€Å"prince,† and Tafari, â€Å"he who must be feared,† from the Amharic language of Ethiopia) of Haile Selassie (Amharic for â€Å"power of the Trinity†; 1892â€1975), the previous Ethiopian sovereign, whom most Rastafari revere as a God-ruler or savior (Morris 217). Rastafari stresses the inside area of god (Haile Selassie I), regularly alluded to as I and I rather than We which speaks to an overdetermined image that incorporates both a feeling of the self as heavenly nature living inside and the idea that the soul and intensity of Haile Selassie I abide inside every individual Rastafari. On account of their social foundation a portion of their convictions are c omparatively shared by those of the Lost/Found Nation of Islam (Corduan, 104) in spite of the fact that it varies on the prophetic message. One may ponder about what are the principle strict convictions of Rastafarians. First it’s imperative to characterize strict convictions. Strict conviction is a solid faith in an otherworldly force or powers that control human fate. Such a state may identify with the presence, trademark and love of the god or gods, divine intercession known to mankind and human life, or qualities and practices focused on lessons of profound pioneers (despite the fact that Rastafarianism doesn’t have otherworldly pioneers), strict convictions are typically classified. This force gets not from an assemblage of orderly or consistent truth, yet rather from the mental, passionate substance of belief system (Barret, 103). The Rastafarians have produced for themselves an assortment of legend and ceremonies which can be summed up in a deliberate structure. All through my examination, just the focal thoughts will be talked about alongside the most essential ceremonies of the development. Note additionally that numerous convictions and customs may change starting with one gathering then onto the next relying upon their segment area. Data with respect to this examination was gotten from different web sources, books, and academic distributed diaries. There are a couple of principle convictions that can be portrayed as being really Rastafarians, They are the accompanying! Haile Selassie is the living God. Every obvious Rastafarian accept that Haile Selassie, the head of Ethiopia, is the valid and living God, in any event for the dark race. One individual from the Rastafarian Repatriation Association it clarified along these lines: We know before that when a lord ought to beâ crowned in the place where there is David’s seat, that individual would be Shiloh, the blessed one, the Messiah, the Christ returned in the representation of Rastafari. He (Ras Tafari) is the â€Å"Ancient of Days† (The whiskery God). The sacred writing proclaims that â€Å"the hair o f whose head resembled fleece (tangled hair), whose feet resembled unto consuming brass† (i.e., dark skin). The sacred text proclaims that God hangs in still space encompassed with thick murkiness (consequently a dark man). Rastafarians additionally view Haile Selassie I as God due to Marcus Garvey’s forecast â€Å"Look to Africa where a dark ruler will be delegated, he will be the deliverer â€Å"was quickly followed by the rising of Haile Selassie I as Emperor of Ethiopia. The thought of Haile Selassie being the God of the dark race is upheld by the Rastafarian thought that God himself is dark, a case supported by the scriptural content found in Jeremiah 8:12 â€Å" For the hurt of the little girl of my kin am I harmed, I am dark; as awe hath grabbed hold of me†. This sacred writing is valid, however one must be cautious on the most proficient method to utilize sacred writings so as to safeguard our own perspectives dependent on racial standards. It is important to examine and see totally the Holy Bible, and not quote stanzas that appear to be good for that second our uti lization at that occurrence. Rastafarians offer avocation for the holiness of Haile Selassie I, by utilizing scriptural names, for example, Lord of the Lords, King of Kings and Conquering Lion of the clan of Judah for Haile Selassie I. additional confirmation that Haile Selassie I isn't God can be said on the grounds that this term had been utilized since the beginning to depict Ethiopian Emperors and portraying him as another God would be accepting the Rastafarian religion as a variety of Hinduism in which resurrection of God’s is normal. Numerous Rastafarians follow Haile Selassie’s ancestry back to King Salomon and the Queen of Sheba. They accept that the Queen of Sheba’s visit to King Solomon found in the Book of Kings (1 Kings 10:1-13) gives additional evidence of the godliness of Haile Selassie I. Rastafarians accept that King Salomon and Queen of Sheba had sex during the visit, which prompted the origination of a kid who was in indistinguishable line of relatives from Haile Selassie I; which to a considerable lot of them this shows the awesome idea of Haile Selassie as he is along these lines identified with Salomon’s father King David and subsequently to Jesus. This recognition is essentially a Rastafarian fantasy since there are no writing that shields the possibility of King Salomon and Queen of Sheba being included explicitly and this thought emerged in light of the fact that King Solomon is notable forâ being unfaithful and wedded distinctive lady so as to extend his realm. The Rastafarians additionally accept that the ruler Jesus Christ talked about in the book of scriptures is Haile Selassie I and accept that the early Christians ministers present him as a Jew so as to avoid the dark slaves their actual personality. In any case, the exploration shows that Haile Selassie I was a committed Christian and would not like to be seen as a God, which repudiates one of the principle convictions of the Rastafarians. As indicated by Rastafarian instructing, the individual of color is the rebirth of old Israel, who on account of the white individual, has been banished in Jamaica, since they accept to be Israelites, they have not had the option to split away from the world â€Å"Israel†. They accept that Israelites and Ethiopians are essentially a similar name alluding to sacred individuals. The possibility of Ethiopia being Israel â€Å"Israelite state established in 1947† and that Jamaicans Slaves originated from Ethiopia is totally bogus; and Afri can History shows that Jamaican slaves originated from various pieces of Africa not from Ethiopia; Ethiopia is really the main nation that was not uncovered through servitude and that Slavery demonstration According to the Rastafarians, they, the genuine Israelites have been rebuffed for their wrongdoings by God, their dad through subjugation under whites. This wrongdoing has prompted their outcast in Jamaica. They accepted to have been for some time exonerated by God, and ought to have come back to quite a while prior, but since of the slavemasters’ cunning, they have been not able to do as such (Barret 112). Another significant Rastafarian instructing states that the white individual is substandard compared to the individual of color. This thought of dark incomparability comes to a great extent as a reverberation from the times of Marcus Garvey and stays a solid point in both the Black Muslins in the (United States) and the Jamaican Rastafarian developments. As model from Garvey’s African Fundamentalism we read: If others snicker at you, return the chuckling to them; on the off chance that they imitate you, repay the praise with equivalent power. They have not any more option to shame, lack of regard and negligence your inclination and masculinity than you have in managing them. Respect them when they respect you; lack of regard and negligence them when they abominably treat you. Their presumption is nevertheless shallow and a supposition that has no establishment of ethics or in law (Barret, 114). I enormously can't help contradicting dark or racial domination since God has appeared well and good, and t

Mississippi Burning by Allan Parker - Analytical Essay...

Mississippi Burning – Analytical Essay Mississippi Burning, directed by Allan Parker, is set in the state of Mississippi, 1964. In this film, Parker shows that he feels sorry for black people, by strongly portraying the levels of racism and injustice towards negroes, which was implemented by white people (the Ku Klux Klan in particular) within the state. The Ku Klux Klan was a group of white people who believed that negroes were filth, and that they didn’t deserve to live equally among white people: â€Å"We want beautiful babies, not ones with brown faces†. They conveyed their message through strong acts of violence, to instil fear in the hearts of all negroes, and the majority of the state’s population were forced into racism, in fear†¦show more content†¦Throughout the scene you can hear a negro lady singing a sad song, which allows you to understand that black people aren’t equal, and that they are forced to feel like they don’t belong there: â€Å"take my hand, lead me hom e†. The song also makes you feel melancholy, and creates a strong sense of pathos. Parker effectively juxtaposes the tap scene with this scene, in order to give the audience a clear understanding of the racism and prejudice against black people in Mississippi. Parker vividly shows examples of this violence, prejudice, and segregation, through strong scenes of the murder and bashing of black people and those who stood up for them. In the next scene, three civil rights boys are murdered by the KKK. Two of them are white, and one of them is black. They were driving towards the Mississippi border, with the intentions of introducing equality between black and white people into other states, after failing to do so in Mississippi. Knowing about their work, the KKK decided to get rid of them, so they sent some of their members to follow the three boys in their car. This pursuit scene is set in a very dark landscape, in which the civil rights boys are driving a car with its lights on. Parker effectively uses silence to build anticipation in the audience, until three other cars appear, pursuing the boys. These cars do not have their lights on, and they are concealed in the night. Ominous music starts to play, which slowly starts to build and

Essay on Father and Son in The Road and The Pursuit of...

English ISU Essay Draft The relationship between a father and his son can be articulated as without a doubt the most significant relationship that a man can have throughout the duration of his life. To a further extent the relationship between a father and a son can be more than just a simple companionship. Just like a clown fish and a sea anemone, both father and son will rely on each other in order to survive the struggles of their everyday lives. Cormac McCarthy’s The Road and Gabriele Muccino’s The Pursuit of Happyness both depict a story between a father and son using each other as a means of survival when faced with adversity. When placed in a tough situation father and son must create a symbiotic relationship in order to survive.†¦show more content†¦The boys learn to cope with the struggles of their everyday lives. Being raised in this cruel environment the boys learn to survive with barely anything and seem to become more mature because of this. People tend to look up to the ir elders to learn life lessons when placed in a tough situation. â€Å"Christopher Gardner: Hey. Dont ever let somebody tell you... You cant do something. Not even me. All right? Christopher Jr.: All right. Christopher Gardner: You got a dream... You gotta protect it. People cant do somethin themselves, they wanna tell you you cant do it. If you want somethin, go get it. Period.† (Muccino) It is a father’s duty to be able to teach his son life lessons in order for him to mature. One day the father will not be there to tend to his son, thus causing the son to recall life lessons taught by his father in order to survive. Living in a realm where the only goal is survival The Boy, in The Road, must use the experiences with his dying father to shape himself into a more mature individual. Food Nutrition Dietary Reference Intake

Question: Discuss about the Food Nutritionfor Dietary Reference Intake. Answer: The Canadas Food Intake and dietary Reference Intake (DRI) agree with each other according to the Diet Analysis Plus. According to the Canadas Food Intake should have sufficient amount of carbohydrate, protein and fat whereas the Dietary Reference Intake suggests that the protein contain should be 2.-35%, the carbohydrate contents should be 45-65% and the fat contents should be 10-20% (Lease et al. 25). DRI also suggests the same percentage of macronutrients (Johnson, Steven). DRI also suggests the RDI (Recommended Dietary Allowance) of the micronutrients (Volpi et al. 679). Strength and weakness of Canadas Food Intake and DRI Strength and weakness of Canadas Food Intake- the strength of this food guide is that the food guide provides an idea of balanced diet chart. However, the weakness is that the food guide does not provide the exact amounts of calories. One can eat according to the Canadas Food Intake guide but he or she needs the guidance of physician and nutritionist to know the proper amount of consumption. Strength and weakness of DRI- the Dietary Reference Intake (DRI) recommends mainly the intake of micronutrients like iron, foliate, riboflavin, magnesium, thiamine and retinol. However, the description of macronutrients is not specified properly. However, the DRI chart is made on the basis of different age group, physical activities and sex. The modified diet chart must include proper amount of carbohydrate, protein, fat, fiber, sodium, saturated fat, vitamins and other minerals. Per 60 gm of serving must include 870 kj energy, 9% of protein, 1% of ft, 1% of saturated fat, 9% of carbohydrates, 11% sugars and 5% of sodium (Bolzetta et al. 1795). Alex Denning Interview - A marketing agency that wasnt very popular with clients would not be a very good marketing agency

Howdy ladies and gents, this marks our last interview of 2018! After having exciting conversations with remarkable people throughout the whole year, were ready to finish things out with a talk with Alex Denning about marketing (and everything it entails). If you want to check out all our interviews from 2018, you can find them in their own dedicated interview category. Last month, we spoke about the Gutenberg block editor with Andrei Lupu. Now, lets get back to the Alex Denning interview!  Ã°Å¸â„¢â€šAlex Denning and his team will promote your business in all the ways possible. We can personally confirm this statement because we collaborated with Alex here at ThemeIsle and we declared ourselves satisfied.Alex is doing marketing for people who dont like marketing, which is also the motto of Ellipsis Marketing. A clever and memorable line if you ask me. I remember when I first heard it at WordCamp Bucharest two years ago (he came here as a speaker), I found it interesting and catchy. An d thats the point, isnt it? To produce a click in peoples minds, to be associated with an idea. Alex Denning Interview   A marketing agency that wasnt very popular with clients would not be a very good marketing agencyWhen and how did you start working with WordPress? Is there an interesting story here?Alex Denning:I started working with WordPress around 10 years ago, when I was a teenager. I ran a website about video games (as you do, when a teenager), and I needed a way of easily adding content and updating my website. I looked at a handful of solutions, and WordPress was one of them. I distinctly remember thinking the community looked more active and thinking this was a good sign for the future. Turns out that was a remarkably insightful call 🙂From there, I started â€Å"hacking† my WordPress site to do what I wanted. I taught myself and relied on blog posts to find out how to do things. At the time, there were very few of these, so I started writing my own. Thi s eventually turned into starting WPShout.com, and I ended up writing about WordPress every week for four years there. Doing that got me my first bits of freelance work, and the rest is history.Which one of all the services you currently provide is the hardest or the most challenging to deliver?Alex Denning:Affiliates are a great marketing channel for clients with products at the right stage. Well help clients with a bespoke affiliate offering, which aims to develop deep relationships with affiliates and generate real wins for both parties. The challenge comes from integrating with the affiliates workflow and then offering the right balance between doing things for the affiliate, and ensuring effectiveness for them and our client. When this works, though – its a clear win for everybody and theres obvious scope to expand further. What about the most popular? I mean, which one of your services is the most requested by people? What would be the reason, in your opinion?Alex Denning :We do â€Å"best-in-class† content marketing – i.e. writing and promoting really good content – and this will always be a staple. I got started by writing about WordPress, and there will always be demand for this! Were now doing this only where clients need excellent content, but were still doing it. Content is probably the best way to tell people about something at scale, so thats where the demand comes from.Whats your technique for staying productive throughout the day?Alex Denning:Im a big fan of â€Å"Deep Work†, a philosophy of work which says you should focus for prolonged periods on hard things, and take regular breaks to facilitate this. I thus try to make the most of the energy and attention I have during the day and call it a day when that energy runs out.How do you define being successful?Alex Denning:Doing good work on projects youre interested in, having a positive impact on the world, and having a healthy, balanced lifestyle. Those criteria can be met in all sorts of ways for different people 🙂Where do you get your clients from? Do you have any strategy to get your agency promoted on a regular basis?Alex Denning:A marketing agency that wasnt very popular with clients would not be a very good marketing agency 🙂 We take doing really good work for clients really seriously, and this often leads to recommendations or referrals. A fair number of clients get my weekly newsletter and have reached out after being subscribed for a couple of months. And, WordCamps are good too.I obviously think about marketing Ellipsis, but the main strategy is â€Å"do good work†. In a community where word spreads like WordPress, happy clients are an excellent marketing strategy. What do you like to do when youre not WordPress-ing?Alex Denning:Day-to-day Im a keen musician and runner; late last year I started having piano lessons for the first time since I was a child, which has been really fun. I also love photography a nd travel, so the two go in-hand nicely. In March this year, for example, we did a three-week road trip in New Zealand which was totally magical. What do you wish more people knew about WordPress?Alex Denning:Slightly unorthodox answer here: the community! Its such a great asset, and we can do even more by getting people who work with WordPress but have no idea about WordCamps and meetups involved.Whos doing things that are just cutting-edge and incredible in the WordPress space right now?Alex Denning:Im really excited about Logic Hop, a personalized marketing solution for WordPress (theyre an Ellipsis client so take this with a pinch of salt!). Logic Hop can make any WordPress site more effective through content personalization; you let it track where your users have come from, where they go on your site, or other data from third-party integrations, and then you can make your whole WordPress site more relevant. As a marketer, this is incredibly exciting as it lets you make sites from stores to digital products, to business sites, more effective by tweaking the messaging. This is cutting-edge as previously personalization was only available to enterprise sites like Amazon and Netflix, but its availability in the WordPress space speaks to increasingly powerful options.Describe the WordPress community in one word.Alex Denning:Caring.A really, really incredible group of lovely people.Whats the one thing youd like to change about WordPress?Alex Denning:Well, the post editor could really do with an upgrade†¦ Obviously joking. As Noel Tock said at WordCamp Europe, though, WordPress is a big project and needs to be able to do more than one thing at once. Were starting to see this, but Id love to improve the end-to-end user experience more. John Maeda said this eloquently last year: we have a â€Å"famous five-minute install†, but then a two week period of figuring out hosting, themes, and plugins. WordPress competitors dont make you do that. You spoke at sev eral WordCamps so far. How does a talk in front of a crowd help your career? Take your example.Alex Denning:Speaking at WordCamps certainly adds gravitas. If you go to an event and can talk authoritatively on a topic, it positions you as an expert and certainly  that helps your business. When I was first starting to work with WordPress, saying I was a WordCamp speaker was helpful for signaling that I was in the WordPress community, knew my stuff, and would be a good person to work with. Thus, my first WordCamp talk at WordCamp London 2013 comes to mind as the most impactful.Ever thought of expanding your marketing services beyond WordPress?Alex Denning:Of course! The skills Im developing can apply to any digital arena, and Im always keen to challenge myself and learn more. For now, though, I have no reason to look anywhere else: the WordPress community is a great place to be, I enjoy working with WordPress, and Ellipsis is in demand 🙂 Alex Denning (@AlexDenning) #intervie wed at ThemeIsle - on #marketing #WordPress Click To Tweet That sums up our Alex Denning interview. Three Types of Cloning

Three Types of Cloning Free Online Research Papers Free healthcare was once a possibility. Just years ago our administration formed a plan that would allow free healthcare for the nation yet today we find ourselves struggling. People keep dieing of diseases we have barely funded cures for. The elderly are going without in order to pay for hundreds of dollars in prescriptions. Transplant lists grow page after pageeveryday. Good healthcare benefits are becoming a deal breaker for employees. With all of the millions of dollars spent in healthcare a year, there has to be a better way. Over the past decades, scientists and bio-engineers have come farther and farther in the field of medical advancements. We have come up with prosthetics, skin grafts, and machines that cure the sick or help those in need. (Cloning Fact Sheet 1) Although we have made many inventions and changed many people’s lives, most of our advancements only aid in more cosmetic issues and the pumps and valves we insert into organs and veins, may only stall the inevitable. The fact is that we have not found cures for cancer or AIDS. We do not have enough donated organs to replace those who are in need but there is something we can do about that. Scientists have discovered that it is possible to use cloning to clone human tissue and organs. Today three different kinds of cloning have been discovered: Recombinant DNA technology or DNA cloning, reproductive cloning, and therapeutic cloning. Recombinant DNA technology is practically the coping of a gene and/ or chromosomes. Reproductive cloning is the duplication of an animal buy implanting genetic material into an adult cell whose nucleus has been removed. Then either chemical or electric stimulation causes the cell to actually split forming an embryo, which is then implanted into the female until birth. In this process the animal created is not identical of the donor animal. This could be used to clone animals around the world where livestock may have died off and to create food. Therapeutic cloning is also referred to as â€Å"embryo cloning† and is the production of human embryos to harvest the stem cells. The harvesting of stem cells is where the development of tissue could be produced and used medically. This sort of technology could be the most beneficial. It could easily save lives and cure disease. According to Gralla, this process of cloning could also clone organs for transplants, which might put an end to the many people who lay around suffering while waiting to be moved up a space or two on a list that they could die before ever getting their chance. (148) Though the technology is far from being perfected, scientists have successfully cloned cells and animals. The very cloning of animals could be used to end starvation around the world. The loss of livestock would no longer ruin a family. If the government were to give more money to the scientists to possible perfect the cloning of cells, we could do so much to help people. Though there are many good things about cloning, organ cloning specifically, there are many drawbacks. Though there have been many documented successes in cloning, Dolly was one success out of many, many tries. 90% of clone attempts fail, not to mention the great expense of cloning. Along with the low efficiency of a perfect clone created with each time, those clones have a very low immune system and are more susceptible to disease and infection. Many develop tumors and many other disorders. Many of the cloned animals around the world died very young and were born at abnormal sizes but if funded, scientists could keep working to perfect the technology that could allow a perfect clone of a cell, each time. (Brown 368) The cost of keeping a person on life support costs thousands of dollars. The cost oh chemotherapy and dialysis machines are too great. Finding insurance that will cover even a fourth of a terminally ill person is rare. Prescriptions and experimental drugs are offered to possibly cure or delay sickness but many of the things found to work, are only available to those with the money to spend. There are millions of poverty stricken people who will die because they cannot afford to go to the hospital or who know there is no point in going to the hospital because they know they will die because they have no money for medicine and treatment. Cloning could produce viable organs for those on transplant lists and shorten their stay in hospitals and use of expensive machines and medicines. Cloning could produce healthy tissue that could maybe cure cancer and tumors, which would keep patients off of chemotherapy, which takes a terrible toll on the body, even with our modern medicine. Over all, the funding and advancement of cloning can only help us. There are many positive things it could do and the fist costs of developing it will ultimately save our country in healthcare. With these medical advancements in place, the healthcare deficit will decrease greatly. And maybe when we do perfect the process to where we produce healthy cells and tissue each time, we could expand this research into other countries and possibly put and end to terminal sickness and give all people, no matter of social or economical standings, a chance to live full and healthy lives. The Impact of International Business Theory on Understanding Essay

The Impact of International Business Theory on Understanding International Business - Essay Example Basically, in political economy, but also in a business setting, the theory of inter-organizational bargaining can be utilized to characterize and make an analysis of business and government negotiation, policy formulation and trends (Aharoni, 1966). This theory places an emphasis on the relative bargaining resources and the stakes of every person involved in a bargaining scenario, hence deducing economical and commercial ideas from the analysis. Since any business can be involved in power relationships with competing companies, bargaining theory may include in both the MNC and the host government negotiations the capable reaction from other related MNCs (Audretsch, 1989). Vital phenomena such as the bargain trade limitations and performance obligations can be reflected by critical analysis using this theory. Policies of MNCs and host governments can be incorporated with power relationships resulting in compromising and working together as well as the rivalry with other MNCs. The bargaining theory model, hence is apparent and able to entail numerous considerations such as the ones already named. Firm strategies and the host government rules, laws, policies and regulations may emanate from the decision makers aspect of their own bargaining powers and those of other crucial actors, in addition to their analysis of opportunity costs and their ability to forego any dealings with potential rival MNCs wishing to operate in the host country (Blomkvist, 2012). Among the numerous actors who are important to policy making, MNC does comprise a specific vital group, changes the balance of payments, aid in the country’s overall development, develop and improve on the existing technology and have an impact on other policy fields.

Evaluation of the Humane Society of Indianapolis Research Paper

Evaluation of the Humane Society of Indianapolis - Research Paper Example As a part of their activities, they provide shelter to animals, and provide effective behavioral training to animals that are in their shelters and also to animals that their owners bring for such training. Such training is also imparted to animals that have not yet been adopted but are eminently adoptable. These trainings are provided through the Society’s public training classes and the Society tries to spread awareness about humane treatment to animals through various forums that are available for reaching out to the people of Indianapolis (Services for Pet Owners, 2011). Organization The Society operates through free service provided by volunteers that are genuinely interested about the welfare of animals and are eager to provide some succor to them at times of their distress. But these volunteers are not simply well intentioned warm hearted individuals. Helping animals sure requires some rigorous training as untrained individuals might cause harm to both themselves and the animals no matter how honest and genuine their intentions are. Hence, the Society provides training to its volunteers so that they are totally equipped and fully aware of what they should do and how they should act in situations where animals need human help in order to survive in a decent and dignified manner without the fear of cruelty or ill treatment or even neglect (About Us, 2011). Criteria 1 It is a not for profit organization that does not avail of any governmental grants or donations. Neither does it accept any donations or grants from private animal welfare organizations like PETA or ASPCA, two of the more well known animal welfare organizations of United States of America. The Society is run exclusively on private contributions and donations from private individuals who are interested and impressed about the activities of the Society. This gives the Society an unparalleled independence to chalk out its own course of action without any direction or guidance from any remote central authority. This freedom allows it to micro manage its operations in ways it deems would be best suited for distressed animals in Indianapolis and thus become more relevant to local problems than any national agency, be it governmental or be it non-governmental, can ever become (About Us, 2011). Criteria 2 The values incorporated by this organization speak volumes about their ethical and integrity, moral rigidity and honesty of purpose. That they are genuine animal lovers is evident from the compassion with they treat animals and what is best is they never make any distinction between whether the animals are pets or have been abandoned by their owners and are now no more than stray dogs. This uniform approach to all animals can come from only genuine animal lovers and not those who simply pose to gain social brownie points. This compassion in all probabilities generates a deep sense of respect of the bond between humans and animals that can grow only between a devoted animal and equally devoted owner and it sure takes time to develop as this is such a sensitive issue that it can develop in a unique natural way that unfolds over a long period. The organization recognizes and is deeply respectful of this unshakeable bond between pets and their owners. Such a huge activity can only be possible through unstinted cooperation from all interested individuals and the Society pays utmost regard and is eager to embrace any form genuine cooperation. This allows the Society to reach to all sections of the society irrespective of what class, creed or ethnicity such individual s hail from. This not only gives the Society a more inclusive character but also ensures a more democratic outlook. As it

Intellectual Property Rights and software Essay Example for Free

Intellectual Property Rights and software Essay Moral theories such as utilitarianism are used to defend Intellectual Property Rights of software produced by companies such as the Microsoft. It is important to differentiate between physical property rights and intellectual property rights. The government needs to analyse pros and cons of protecting rights of companies such as the Microsoft. Intellectual Property Rights or IPR is generally defended based on the assumption that they are similar to physical property rights. The ethical argument is that legal experts have upheld the need to protect property rights of individuals. Consequently, due to such rights individuals are able to protect their ownership rights, as they are allowed to approach court of law when their property is encroached. It is not possible to accept this argument in the context of intellectual property. This is due to basic differences that persist between physical property and intellectual property. Physical property allows purchaser to use property and alienate or dispose property at the later period. (Lea 2006) Software patent rights gives the right to use, but does not allow the user to either modify or alienate. This is because software can be produced in large quantities with the assistance of modern technology. Property, on the other hand, cannot be produced in large quantities. Reproduction and duplication of software can affect profitability of a company like Microsoft or author of the program. (Lea 2006) IPR in the context of software cannot be justified on two counts. First, it cannot be compared with physical property. There is no moral justification to protect rights of the creator of software. It is true that it is important to protect rights of individuals who author a computer program. But, at the same time, it is important to protect rights of consumers as well. Based on this reasoning, Wright brothers were not able to patent Airplane. Patents can sometimes discourage creativity. Consequently, modern scientists were able to produce airplane designs and contribute to enhanced facilities to people. The major purpose of patents and copy rights is to encourage people to contribute to scientific knowledge. (Lea 2006) Patents can be considered as recognition of talent of individual. Innovative products can inspire other individuals to produce similar or other products. As software is protected by IPR, it cannot be modified. One needs to differentiate between copy right acts and software patents. Copy right acts protect interest of authors. Generally, mass production of a book involves huge expenditure as it requires investment in printing and machinery. Software production, on the other hand, does not involve such huge investment. This argument is used to defend software patents. But, this argument alone cannot be used to defend right of a person who authors computer programs. (Lea 2006) Utilitarianism believes in welfare principles. Property rights are essential to achieve general welfare. Lack of property rights can affect large numbers of individuals. Non-software copy rights have encouraged producers to enhance production. They are able to obtain recognition for their contribution to their sector. On the other hand, software patent has affected large numbers of individuals, as they are not able to modify source code of a computer program. Duplication of software will affect income rights of a person or organization that produces software. The author will continue to enjoy the right to control the product. At the same time, additional features can be created by tweeting source code. This can benefit large numbers of people as they use free and modified software. Lea 2006) One needs to appreciate the fact that computer programs cannot replace essential goods required by large numbers of world population. In the 1990s, American population depended on computer revolution, which created employment opportunities for large numbers of individuals. At the same time, a country cannot solely depend on computer programs. This is because comp uter programs cannot replace other economic activities such as agricultural and industrial production. (Lea 2006) Protection of monopolistic companies such as Microsoft has created disparity between rich and poor nations. It is not possible to defend high price charged by companies for their software. This is because companies do not invest heavily in R D, unlike non software industry. From utilitarian perspective, it is not possible to defend IPR of software. This is because the aim of world leaders should be to reduce disparity between rich and poor. IPR in software, on the other hand, has enhanced gap between rich and poor. This is because countries such as the US depend heavily on software export. The US enhanced its software trade surplus which crossed $20 billion in 1999. (Lea 2006) Second, from libertarian perspective also one cannot defend IPR. This is because IPR does not allow freedom to individuals as they are not able to modify and sell software. This can affect their creative abilities. IRP affects autonomy and freedom of individuals. In a free and democratic country such as the US it is not possible to justify protection of organizations such as Microsoft. Free software movement emerged in order to defend the right of individuals to freely distribute software. In the 1960s, computers had to install software as a distinct bundle. Aim of such measure was to avoid monopoly of a particular company. Microsoft believes in protection of its IPR. In actuality, the main attempt of this organization is to protect its commercial interest. Lack of IPR rules in the context of software will erode profitability of this company. By the use of cyber laws, the company is able to reach a monopolistic position. This has contributed to inflated price of software produced by this company. It is interesting to note that the company hired services of professional detectives in Europe to identify people who used unlicensed company products. Microsoft has faced criticism from European countries due to its monopolistic position in the international software market. Lawsuits are filed against this company for discouraging competition from other companies. (Lea 2006) Computer consumers are expected to purchase legal software from designated commercial areas. At the same time, one needs to note that absence of IPR in software would not affect company profitability. This is because it is not possible for individuals to use different free or licensed computer programs. Today, most users depend on Microsoft Windows and Internet Explorer. Other products are not used due to compatibility issue as these programs are not compatible with Microsoft products. This shows that even if Microsoft products are not protected by IPR, consumers will continue to use them as they are accustomed to this company product. In the year 2001, the government compromised with Microsoft by structuring IPR in such a way as to protect interest of this company. (Lea 2006) Data shows that 90 percent of computers use Microsoft products including Windows and Internet Explorer. (Lea 2006) This has affected competition in this sector. Consequently, large numbers of people are compelled to buy products from Microsoft. The solution for this problem is that Microsoft should be divided into two sections. One section can deal with legal and licensed software, which can be sold at a particular price, while another section can concentrate on products such as video player, which can be freely downloaded. This implies that government is taking sufficient measures to protect interest of consumers who in the IPR regime tend to buy software at inflated price. Another alternative is to abolish IPR of software so that it becomes equivalent to mathematical formulae or a scientific law, which consumers can use and modify based on their subsequent research. This can encourage creativity and innovation and achieve welfare of a large section of world population. (Lea 2006) Utilitarian and libertarian perspectives show that software patent rights do not achieve social welfare, as they aim to protect interest of companies such as Microsoft. Software patent rights have affected autonomy and freedom of individuals who are not legally allowed to modify computer programs. The government needs to introduce regulations restricting software prices. This can encourage companies to offer free software, which can be modified and redistributed for non commercial use.

Essay --

When doing business meetings in Italy punctuality is not a priority, being late with a good reason will not have any negative consequences. The typical business hours of stores in Italy are from eight am to one pm and from three pm to seven pm and usually do not open on Monday mornings. Some major stores will stay open through lunch breaks some may not. Malls and Food Markets are open all week except on Sundays, although there are some specific Sundays which they do open. In major cities supermarkets are open from 9am till 9pm and are open Monday through Sunday. The bank hours in Italy are from eight thirty am to one thirty pm, and then they have a break for about two hours or so and return to work at three till four thirty in the afternoon. Banks are not open on the weekends or on national holidays. Post offices work from eight thirty am until six thirty in the afternoon; they are open from Monday’s through Saturday’s. The Monetary Denomination in Italy is the euro. On e US dollar equals 0.73 Euros or 1.00 Euro has the value of 1.367 USD. In Italy the currency has more value than the currency in the United States. â€Å"In Italy they have twelve national holidays the first one is Capodanno which is celebrated on January first, this holiday is the celebration of the first day of the year. The second holiday is Befana celebrated on January six. This holiday is to celebrate the arrival of the three kings to the stable where newborn Jesus is staying with his parents, this holiday is like the holiday that is named â€Å"el dia de los Reyes magos† to Hispanics. The third holiday is named Carnevale; Carnevale is the period of relaxation and parting before Lent. The fourth holiday is Pasque, which is the same as Easter in the United States, this is... ...hen all of a sudden the company takes a hit because the business partners which you did business with did not look at the major risk factors and at the end your company is the ones who takes a hit, that is one of the major factors which you should look at. Another advantage you have for working with Italians is that the monetary denomination has more value than the monetary denomination in the United States. A disadvantage that your company may encounter is that Italians do not work much, which means that businesses are not opened the regular hours American businesses are open for; this means that there are many hours in which your company may not be making progress or making money. That is the only major disadvantage that may impact your business. Throughout this research paper you and your company can see more advantages that your company may have.

Wear and Appearance of the Army Uniform

In the army there are many uniforms a soldier has to wear. This is for the different activities a soldier does. For everything from their daily Physical Training (PT), their regular working uniform Army Combat Uniform (ACU), or their dress uniform either the Army Service Uniform (ASU), or the Army Green Service Uniform (Class A). Each uniform is design to fit a specific task and to be worn a in certain way. A great resource for either the ASU or the Class A is the â€Å"U. S. ARMY UNIFORM GUIDE. I found this little book a great resource because it shows every form of the ASU for both males and females soldiers, for officers and enlisted. I found this to be great because it shows where everything goes, and how to measure everything, and for a new soldier like me it is important to have the little things right. Over time the uniform of a soldier has change. Since the days of the Revolutionary War to today modern wars in Afghanistan and Iraq the uniform has change but the guide lines h as not. As the uniform evolved, so has the regulation that covers it has also. The regulation that covers this is Army Regulation 670-1, the covers everything from how to cut and maintain your hair to how to wear jewelry, eyeglasses and sunglasses. This regulation is something every soldier should read, even the ones who have been in for over ten years. Because from what I have learned is that this regulation is constantly changing. How to wear the army uniform is important because when we put on the uniform we don’t just represent ourselves but the army as a whole as well. One thing I have learned in my short 20 years of life is how important the clothes you wear impact you as person.Because they can be tell tell sings of what type of person you are. As in the book â€Å"APPERANCES† witch talks about how the clothes you wear can say a lot of what type of person you are, or how do you live your lifestyle. When I was a little boy I would always watch how a few of my neig hbors, which were in the National Guard, would be dress and how I notice that each of their uniforms would be. All of them looking good, with their boots clean and polish, uniforms clean, looking how a soldier should be.When I was is the Navy Junior Reserve Officers Training Corps (NJROTC) I learned how to wear the uniform, even more when I came into the army. In basic training I learned how correct looks like. My drill sergeants would always be looking professional at all times and I would always say this to myself (there nothing ever wrong with any of their uniform). But they would always say â€Å"if you see something wrong with any of our uniforms tell us, and the same goes for your battle buddy. † That’s when I really learned to start to look for the little things most people would not notice. That when I started to pay more attention to my own uniform. I would always taking one last quick peck before formation, always trying to look for the things that other peopl e would not see but would notice. As a military police soldier I think we should be held to a higher standard. In everything from the physical training we do, to how our uniform should be. All of our pockets should be lie down flat. All of our buttons and zippers should be button and zipped. Our boots should always be clean, rid of any and all dirt and mud. The uniform as a whole should be cleaned at all times.Because we are the first ones who people see on the gates. Because first impressions are everything, I would never see my dad going to work looking like garbage, he would always look professional. This applies to us even more because when we are patrolling we are the ones who people see giving tickets. We are the ones who respond to when people have any type of an emergency, we are the ones who will show up at the scene of an accident. The general population expect more of us because we are not only police officers we are military polices soldiers.Which many people would assum e since we are in the military we should have more discipline. When you see that soldier who uniform is all messed up, you would assume either him or one of his leaders don't have the discipline to maintain the uniform. That’s something we as military police soldiers can't be. Whenever you pull over that first sergeant, or that captain that are not only going to look at your rank but your uniform as well, because they are most likely going to think â€Å"his uniform look like shit, how do I know if he is doing his job correctly when he can't even maintain his uniform looking as it should. That where I believe our leaders come into play, they are not only there to help us, but also to fix us when we are wrong. So when I keep blowing off the fact my uniform did look like shit, I should have gone to one of them to see if they could help me fix the mistake. It’s important to wear to army uniform correctly because the habits you do while you are home in a safe environment will continue when you deploy. Whenever you go on a mission you should always double and triple check yourself to make sure you have the right equipment. To make sure you are not missing the little things like you camel bag, or even the big things like you weapon. That’s why it’s important to always check yourself in the mirror before you leave. Not only to check you have the right things but also to make sure everything is in the right place, looking how it should. The same goes for whenever you go out, you always want to be looking good at all times, where ever you go. That’s the same type of thinking you need to have every time you put on the army uniform.Because for me every time I put that uniform on I fell a since of pride, knowing I am a soldier, knowing I am one of the few people of this nation that is willing to and able to. As soldiers we are required to do certain things, some of these include doing physical training daily, keeping our leaders notified , keeping our uniforms squared away at all times. Because you will never know when your first sergeant or sergeant major decides to do a surprise inspection on you, we have to be ready at all time. One bad soldier can have a huge negative impact on the rest of the team, because that one bad soldier can influence the good soldiers around him, to make him do the bad and wrong things. Every time when we wear the uniform we are not only representing ourselves but the army, our country, and the ideas of a free country. Therefore the uniform should always be neat; there should never be any excess for why our uniforms are ever out of order. The army is a team, on that team ever one wears the same uniform. If you teammate on basketball, football, soccer, or volleyball you would go over a correct them. The same has to apply to the army. When we are in that uniform people are going to be looking at us not just because we are in the military but sometimes because the people who are looking at us are old retires who want to see the next generation of soldiers keeping the same traditions alive. Or they could be a person in a different branch of the military looking to see how the other branches wear their uniforms. When we wear the army uniform in public we should not bring bad attention to ourselves. One the type of attention that would make that little boy says â€Å"I want to be like them some day. That how first got interested in military. The proper wear of the army uniform is important for many reasons. One of these reasons is to have a strong discipline soldier at all times. Because when you wear the army uniform correctly it does show you have discipline. But it also reflects how your leaders are, either the ones who really don’t care about their soldiers or the type of leader who takes the time to get to know his soldiers. Another reason why it’s important to wear the army uniform correctly is because it instill a since of pride that only those who ha ve earned the right to called themselves United States Soldiers.

Essay on RFID Tagging - 1647 Words

Radio Frequency Identification Detection (RFID) is a technology that involves a silicon chip and an antenna, which together is called a TAG. The tags emit radio signal to devices that are called readers. One of the things that is important to know about the Electronic Product Code (EPC) is that some people use RFID and EPC interchangeably, but they are different. Would RFID work to track Products? Well, Bar Codes require a line of sight, so a person(s) with a bar code reader has to get right up on the bar code and scan it. When you are thinking about a supply chain, somebody in the warehouse would have to look at every single case. With RFID, all of the cases on the pallet would be picked up by a single swipe of a reader, even the ones†¦show more content†¦The Average gas consumer may have already used this technology without knowledge. The â€Å"Speed Pass† by Mobile Gas, and the â€Å"Sun Pass† used in our local Toll System are just a few examples of RFID technology in use. â€Å"The same computing power that once required and entire building to harness now can be inserted in you left arm.†(Professor Warwick chips in†, Computerworld, Jan. 11, 1999) The simplest implantable microchip is a miniature passive transponder without any power source. It stores a permanent, unique identification number that can only be read but not modified. The transponder then responds by emitting the stored number. These devices are called implantable transponder or RFID tag. RFID tagging â€Å"Micro Chipping† is an implantable microchip that is injected under the skin. It contains and electromagnetic coil and a microchip enclosed in a glass capsule the size of a grain of rice. A veterinarian using a special syringe is currently implanting these devices in animals. This passive transponder does not need a power supply and it last for decades.
